Many students find the jump from GCSE to A-Level Maths quite a challenge. Although most A-level courses start with topics you’ll already have covered, they move quickly beyond Grade 9 examples into new material and a more abstract way of approaching the subject. The more fluent you are with the most challenging GCSE work, the easier the transition to A-Level Maths will be. Good algebra skills are especially important.

We can work during the summer holidays on selected Grade 8 and 9 topics, or anything else you need to revise, to make sure you’re fully prepared to begin A-Level Maths.

Tuition will be focused on the maths you need to cover and the ways you learn best.

• I have worked with students of all ages who were afraid of maths; hence the name “Maths – Don’t Panic!”
• Increasing your confidence with maths, and lessening the fear, will help you learn more easily as well as making maths lessons more comfortable.
• Finding out how you learn best, including how you think, can be an important part of this.
• I have long experience with neurodiversity (including my own), and with specific learning difficulties.
• Everyone is different so it makes sense that we learn in different ways. There are many reasons for these differences, and many implications for the learning of mathematics.
• These factors don’t stop you learning maths; we just need to work in the ways that suits you best.
