Maths Tuition for Younger Students
Key Stage Two / Key Stage Three
School students in KS2 or KS3 may want ongoing support with maths, or just a few sessions to catch up on work missed due to illness or to make sense of a difficult topic. You may be moving from Primary to Secondary school and want a head start on KS3 maths. Whatever your situation, Maths Don't Panic tuition can support your maths in the way that's right for you.
I am a supportive tutor, always aiming to make maths lessons both enjoyable and productive. I use a wide range of learning materials including practical resources, computer software and paper-based work. Where appropriate, lessons may include the use of mathematical games and activities as well as more formal teaching methods. Maths Don't Panic tuition is always tailored to the work the student needs to cover and the way the student learns best.
With younger students, the first session will include a consultation with both the student and a parent/carer to identify priorities for tuition and preferred ways of working. Records of work can be made available to students and their parents/carers by email or in a shared online folder.
I am a qualified primary teacher (ages 7-12), main subject mathematics, and have extensive experience teaching students with specific learning differences. This includes autistic spectrum conditions as well as dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia, with students at all levels of ability.
I have a current DBS Enhanced Certificate dated February 2015.
Home Education
I have a commitment to student-centred learning and particularly enjoy working with homeschoolers.
I can work with home schooled students in whichever way suits you best:
- exploring mathematics through a range of activities chosen to suit individual interest or priorities
- providing tuition for a specific course or curriculum
- working with the student and family to develop a programme of learning
- supporting the maths you're already learning or that you need for other aspects of education/life
Maths Don't Panic tuition is always tailored to the work the student needs to cover and the way the student learns best.
